Agriculture has been an East Shore topic for well over 100 years. Local food production for thousands of years if you ask the Ktunaxa who hunted and fished here regularly before the European and American settlers began to come in in the late 1800’s.

Importing food when it readily grows here has come to seem foolish. Backyard gardens are common but agricultural products for sale have been rare since WWII.

Food Roots have successfully run several Seed Swaps, the Fall Fair and received several grants for various projects, check out their
Enterprising Non-Profit Feasibility Study and their website.
